On Wednesday 26th September 2007 to mark the installation of the new floodlights at Park Field Road, an exhibition match took place involving the Newbold Girls Rugby Team and the under 15 boys. The switch on of the lights follows months of fundraising and grant applications to finance the project. The club received grants totalling £37,000 from a number or organisations including the Rugby Football Union, the Rugby Football Foundation, National Lottery Awards for All programme, Rugby Borough Council and sponsorship and donations from club members and supporters .

The new floodlights will allow training for juniors and seniors, and junior games to be played throughout the year. The new lights will also allow Avon Valley School to train and play games in the winter months if they so wish. Th installation signifies the completion of the first phase of proposed improvements to facilities at Parkfield Road. .

Keith Foster, Club development Co-ordinator for Newbold, said, "The benefits of these lights will help local youngsters and the community in Newbold and Rugby as a whole. It will open all sorts of opportunities for local people and will hopefully allow us to develop our junior section further".

'The RFU's Regional Funding and Facilities Manager, Ross Baxter said; "We are delighted to make this award to Newbold on Avon RFC. The club is key to the local and regional development of rugby union and we are committed to making sure that the club continues to provide increased opportunities for all who wish to participate in rugby".

Baxter added; "The Community Club development Programme represents a new way of working for the RFU, whereby we are involved in the initial selection of projects that should recieve funding based on our own strategic plans. Newbold has already invested in resources to increase club membership/more young people/the number of women and girls playing at the club through thier progressive club development plan, and this further investment will help us to achieve our vision of more people enjoying their rugby at better clubs that are open to all."

The club is hoping for further improve the site with new and improved access and car parking next on the agenda.
