Alcester brought a physical side to play their hosts, and put up a strong challenge.  Newbold’s forwards however gained the upper hand over their bigger opponents, and provided plenty of possession for their pacy backs.    Josh Rogers brilliantly charged down a clearance which Dan O’Brien touched down and then converted to make 7.  Alcester came back strongly in the 2nd quarter, driving hard up the middle of the park.    Newbold though, had the more penetrating runners, and some excellent passing, decision-making and ball retention led to two ‘Barbarianesque’ tries for Edgy and Thommo.  Another conversion made it 19-7.
