Old Coventrians U17's 14 Newbold U17's 7

Gutted. Newbold's poor execution cost them a match that they dominated throughout. The forwards were magnificent, with Pete Bailey taking plenty against the head, and the lineout boys winning a hatful. An OC's breakaway try late in the first half was their reward for fantastic defensive work. An equaliser scored by Paddy Anderson and converted by Danno seemed likely to open the floodgates for Newbold, but sloppy play and poor basics put paid to that. Paddy Anderson tore up the middle on numerous occasions late in the game, but somehow - and who knows how - OC's kept Newbold out and then scored a converted try themselves to win the match. Plenty of positives for the 'Bold, but OC's defence take the plaudits
