NEWBOLD VETS 46 V OLD COVENTRIANS III 0
Bold Vets unbeaten league run continued in emphatic style with another resounding victory against tricky opposition from Coventry. The visitors brought a blend of youth and experience to Parkfield Road and were confident they could overturn the home side, especially in the forwards where they had an obvious size and weight advantage.
However, Old Covents clearly underestimated the Parkfield Road old boys who, despite the fierce gale, showed fantastic handling and intelligent game management in the tricky conditions. Home scores came at regular intervals throughout the 80 minutes with the backs thriving on an abundance of ball won by the hard working forwards. Singles came from Ryan, Stick, McCloud, James, Fez and Gasman with Lloyd adding a brace for the second time this season. Wayne and James shared the kicking duties and added 3 conversions between them to complete the scoring.
There is a week off from league rugby this Saturday followed by a trip to Manor Park the week after. The Nuneaton based Manor Park 2nd team are currently top, also unbeaten in the league so far and will present Bold Vets with their toughest challenge to date.
