NEWBOLD VETS 26 V SHIPSTON III 8

After last weeks friendly fixture victory over Pinley 2nds by 31 points to Nil, Bold Vets returned to league action at Parkfield Road. Their relentless pursuit of the Warwickshire league 3 title continued unabated and their unbeaten record was extended to six out of six.

This was one of Bolds toughest challenges this season against a very good visiting team who had a good balance of experience and youth. The home side had to be on top of their game throughout to contain the very capable Shipston backs and a fiery set of forwards. The foundation for Bold Vets victory was a solid defensive platform and dominant set piece which provided the exciting home side backs with enough quality ball to create plenty of scoring opportunities, several chances denied by stubborn Shipston defence.

Bold tries were scored by Damo, Platty, James and Lloyd, the latter being the only forward on the score sheet. Centre/fly half James reached double figures for the season and now tops the Vets try scoring table with 11.Lloyd, representing the forwards, is fast in pursuit with 7 scores as just reward for his efforts.

Manor Park II are the only other unbeaten team in Warwickshire league 3 and Bold Vets are looking forward to their fixture on 9th January with two further league games against Kenilworth and Old Coventrians over the next 2 weeks
