Shipston 3 v Newbold Vets 39
Bolds 12th win out of 12 leage games was a lot tougher than expected. Over the last few weeks, it was the pack that delivered. This week it was most definitely the backs that showed what they could do. Newbolds forwards were well matched with the opposition 8, gaining parity in the set pieces, but having to work extremely hard all over the pitch. When Shipston went ahead with a penalty after 5 minutes, it looked as though it was going to be a close encounter, but the vets soon found that spinning the ball wide would pay them dividends throughout. James Brainwood showing his ability by intercepting and racing away to score under the posts, for the 1st of another brace to continue his fine season. Kev Lee finished off an excellent move to score. With every play that went wide, Bold looked dangerous and went close a number of times. McCloud finally broke his seasons duck and crashed over from 3 yards, that obviously became 130 as the night wore on. Paul Spooner crashed through the centre defence for the best try of the day in the final minutes. Lloydy Bale showed his versatility with another immense game, going form Prop to flanker in the 2nd half, but still being in the thick of everything. Every player went away in credit from this game as the final score really didn’t reflect how tough a game it was, well done all of you old boys, its been great so far, lets keep it going!
